Hello — I'm George Brooks.

I'm a senior full-stack and product engineer based in Oxford. I taught myself to code at 16, founded my first web company the same year, and have spent the years since building and scaling software — from a health platform that grew past 10,000 customers to complex, data-heavy applications used in demanding, high-stakes environments.

Oxford Tech Consulting is how I help SMEs and larger teams move faster: senior engineering, genuine product judgement, and a strong bias for shipping. One person, no account managers, no hand-offs — you work directly with the person doing the work.

I can switch fluently between layman's terms and deep technical detail, so founders and engineering teams both get exactly the conversation they need.

What does it cost to work with you?

It depends on the work. Most projects are quoted as a fixed scope and price up front, or on a day rate for ongoing and advisory work. You'll always know the cost before anything starts — no open-ended invoices. Get in touch with a few details and I'll come back with a clear quote.

Do you work remotely, or only in Oxford?

Both. I'm based in Oxford and happy to meet local SMEs in person, but most work is done remotely. I regularly work with teams across the UK and internationally — including US-timezone teams, where evenings (UK) line up well with your working day.

What exactly is a "fractional CTO"?

A senior technical leader who works with you part-time instead of as a full-time hire. You get the strategy, architecture decisions, hiring help and steady technical direction a CTO provides — at a fraction of the cost, scaled to what you actually need. It's ideal for startups and SMEs that aren't ready for a full-time executive.

Can one person really handle my project?

For a huge build, no single person should — and I'll say so. But a surprising amount of high-value work (reviews, fixes, AI integration, a fast website, getting a stalled project shipped) is best done by one experienced engineer without the overhead and hand-offs of a team. Where a project genuinely needs more hands, I'll scope it honestly and help you find the right people.

How quickly can you start?

Usually within a week or two, depending on current commitments and the size of the work. Smaller reviews and fixes can often start sooner. The quickest way to find out is a short intro call.
